Chocolate now weighs approximately 14kg. He is a very active orangutan and also has an excellent appetite. He is not a fussy eater and likes most of the food that he is given with mango and coconut being his favourite. Chocolate is a healthy orangutan and has not had any health issues over the last few months.
Chocolate was in an isolation cage by himself for a while after his companion Rahul became ill and had to be housed at the clinic. Chocolate is now housed with an orangutan named Hutan and they get along well. If they are given coconuts then they will work together to open them.
Chocolate has now started to use leaves to make a nest at night which is a very positive development. Nest building is a vital skill that all orangutans need to have when living in the forest. Chocolate seems more relaxed and happier at the centre since his confiscation.
